Our Story

Like so many other podcasters, we started our journey during the pandemic. At first, we called the show Fueling Creativity because we wanted to emphasize the idea of a conversation about creativity shared during a cup of morning expresso.

We then quickly recognized the need to emphasize that our focus of conversation was toward teaching and learning environments, so we extended the title of our podcast to include the word, education.

We get challenged to articulate our audience, and from our perspective, we think many of our episodes focus on the intellectually curious educator or the emerging scholar who wants to learn more about creativity and education and, more specifically, utilize ideas and an experienced knowledge base to support their creative efforts in teaching and scholarship.

After three years of the show, we remain committed to our original mission of bridging the gap between the Art of Teaching and the Science of Creativity—bringing together knowledge from the field of creativity research with the unique ways teachers and administrators are promoting, nurturing, and designing effective approaches to develop creativity in the classroom.

At the same time, this podcast has become a living expression of creativity for us as hosts. Each season, we challenge ourselves to try something new—whether it’s introducing fresh formats, amplifying different voices, or experimenting with how we share ideas. In doing so, we practice creativity in real time, navigating uncertainty, adapting to change, and embracing the same challenges and opportunities of living creative lives that we invite our listeners to explore alongside us.
